The Full Service School is an innovative and collaborative partnership approach to addressing the needs of children and families in an elementary school setting. The Full Service School Project provides for a team of human service professionals who work collaboratively with school personnel to identify needs, recommend services and resources, and make referrals to serve youth and families. Parents and families are offered access to resources and educational opportunities to facilitate positive and productive growth and development, as well as academic success. The goals of the project are to: develop rapport among families, students, school staff, and partnering agencies with the main focus on helping families; provide a connection between home, school, and community; provide avenues for parents to see the school as a positive support and resource; develop an awareness of community services and resources available through the Full Service School Project; and provide services and programs in identified areas of need, such as counseling, health assessment, parenting, mentoring, tutoring, and family involvement.
