About the Program

Category: Risk and Emergency Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2017

In 2016 the San Bernardino County Flood Control District (District) began the process of upgrading its flood warning system using the latest technology in rainfall data collection and interactive web-based mapping. The District replaced dozens of its self-reporting rainfall gages to make the data collection reliable and error free with the primary goal of improving its response to flood fighting during major storms. The District also had a custom computer application built that interfaces with the network of gages that provides access to the data and other weather related information from the District’s website.
