In 2008, Clark County Development services implemented an “ePermits and Records Management integration” program that resulted in an effective solution for obtaining permits online and producing quality records. One of the most important aspects of the program is the integration between the online permitting system and the document management system. The ePermits consists of building permits that do not require a plan examiner’s review, can be applied for online, paid for online, and the PDF permit document is sent by email to be printed in the home or office. Records Management is the control and treatment of the record throughout it mandated lifecycle. When merging ePermits with a document management system, an automated solution that requires no staff intervention to process, print, or scan a record throughout its lifecycle is created. Residential water heater and water softener permits were the first applications to be implemented in the program.
