Montgomery County Environmental Services developed, designed, and built a state-of-the-art Environmental Learning Center on the campus of the Montgomery County Solid Waste District. This one-of-a-kind facility is constructed with sustainable building materials and includes museum quality exhibits and interactive games designed to encourage waste reduction, recycling, and water and energy conservation. The facility also includes a green parking lot to teach visitors about storm water protection. The location of the center is unique because it allows visitors to view large-scale solid waste and recycling operations firsthand. Visitors who tour the Montgomery County Environmental Learning Center are given the opportunity to directly experience environmental challenges, and learn strategies to reduce their waste and conserve natural resources.
