The Macomb County Public Works Department has two Environmental Educators. Their job entails venturing out to classrooms all across Macomb County, and teach three environmental presentations to students. The 3 presentations titled “Pollution Solutions”, “Recycle Macomb” and “Water and the Urban Environment” were formed in 2006 after educators from Public Works department revealed a need for students to have the opportunity to learn about more complex issues involving our water resources. Since 2011, environmental educators have brought these 3 presentations to local water festivals in the area, and have been teaching local Eagle Scout troops as well. Parents, grandparents, caregivers and teachers supported the idea for students in 3rd through 7th grade to participate in water and urban environmental programs that were primarily shown for the water festivals, into the school system presentations. The current programs that environmental educators now utilize in schools are more hands on, and have even more technical parts to the demonstration. The presentations are for students in 3rd, 4th 5th 6th and 7th grades. Participants have been extremely happy with the Pollution Solution, Recycle Macomb and Water and the Urban Environment presentations currently present in Macomb County schools.
