Gwinnett County (GA) is committed to helping employees achieve optimal health and well-being. In 2015, we combined previously separate health and wellness programs to allow more focus on wellness as an integral part of our health benefits. Participating in the wellness program allowed employees to pay a reduced premium for health insurance plans and also gave us information about the employee population for targeted activities to reduce identified issues/problems. To provide a central focus for both programs, we opened a Wellness Center in May 2015 with an onsite clinic, Wellness Advocate, EAP Counselor, retirement plans representative, and the Workers’ Compensation claims adjuster – all located together within walking distance of the main County offices. We coordinated the wellness focus with other benefit plans to help reduce costs for the County and its employees.
