When Hamilton County Job and Family Services realized abuse incidents were ending up on the news without being reported to the agency, officials knew they had to educate both mandated reporters and the community about what to report and how. That prompted "Do Ask, Do Tell," a campaign of videos, PSAs, a website, brochures and letters - all telling people that if they see something they think might be child abuse, they need to call the agency's hotline, 241-KIDS. County Commissioners sent DVDs to schools and police departments, asking them to share the information with their employees. Calls to 241-KIDS increased and HCJFS continues to use and promote this successful 2011 campaign, which was executed with existing dollars in the wake of deep cuts in resources.
