The County of Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) found that Children’s Social Workers (CSWs) had difficulty with ensuring that children clients had educational stability. Contributing factors to this difficulty included hurdles, which prevented CSWs from accessing academic records from school districts within the County. DCFS developed the Student Information Tracking System (SITS) so that CSWs could attain school-related information, including academic performance, attendance, and past and current enrollment information. Access to SITS helps to ensure clients’ entitlement to enhanced services and enrichment activities through the responsible school district.
