Customer Service is something Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) prides itself on, yet in many venues old ideas and thoughts persist as this is a County Government Department, yet also a business. Because it is a government entity, some people perceive it to be not as customer friendly as a private sector business would be. ABS disagrees with this, as ABS provides good service, good selection, and good prices in the retail arena. This training class for customer service in the liquor/wine area included a strong focus on customer service, but also a focus on training for wine in a manner that customers would understand and engage with. Because ABS was able to work with a colleague to procure $40,000 for training and programs related to the Languedoc region of France (with Vins de France), ABS used that opportunity to use Languedoc wines for training on ways to talk about wine and wine tasting with customers.
