The Department of Human Resources (DHR) continually seeks ways to streamline business processes and enhance customer satisfaction. For Open Enrollment in 2017, the goal was to reduce manual effort for benefits staff and make it easier for employees to use the process. DHR developed a custom page in PeopleSoft to capture information from employees who waive their benefits. We also mirrored best practices and industry standards by not requiring employees to provide proof of other coverage. This eliminated the need to process forms to put them into our Documentum repository. Customer feedback from Open Enrollment was overwhelmingly positive. Having the waiver documentation stored in a table in PeopleSoft made a significant impact on the benefits team because it allowed them immediate access to the information as soon as Open Enrollment closed.
