Category: Health (Best in Category)

Year: 2021

As COVID-19 vaccine distribution began, Durham County Public Health needed a simple way to view and monitor data about COVID-19 vaccinations for county residents. Public Health and Information Services & Technology collaborated to develop the COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Dashboard, which transforms raw data about Durham County COVID-19 vaccinations into an easy-to-read, interactive format. The dashboard shows total vaccine counts as well as data on vaccine status, brand, date, vaccine provider site, age group, gender, race, ethnicity, zip code, and vaccine priority group. The data can be instantly filtered by any of those variables with a single mouse click. The dashboard allows officials to quickly and easily detect trends and identify groups of Durham County residents who have received a disproportionately low number of vaccines. Officials can use that information to direct outreach efforts to that group and keep the vaccine distribution equitable for all residents.
