The Court Reservation System (CRS) allows parties with a case assigned to a participating civil courtroom to reserve a date for a law and motion hearing and pay the associated filing fees through the Court’s website, making reservations available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without coming to the courthouse. Filing fees can also can be paid on line, decreasing time spent at the filing window. CRS has eliminated the need to speak directly with courtroom staff to reserve a hearing date, while maintaining court control over the number and types of motions set each day, ensuring required fees are paid, and decreasing the likelihood that hearings are reserved as “place holders” only to be canceled. With development of CRS beginning in 2013, after testing and modification, it was rolled out in June 2013 to the Personal Injury Courtrooms in the central courthouse. Since that time, CRS has been implemented in 23 courtrooms in 8 courthouses. In February of this year, 2,834 reservations were made through CRS, saving an estimated 236 hours or staff time. Over $2.78 million in filings fees have been collected through CRS since its inception.
