Year: 2009

One of the greatest achievements of the San Bernardino County Museum is its ability to touch the lives and provide life-long learning of the underserved community through its First Sunday Free Admission program for individuals and families that cannot afford a visit to the museum. Each month, hundreds of families and individuals have an opportunity to visit the San Bernardino County Museum at no cost through this free day program. The County of San Bernardino along with community businesses and organizations sponsor free admission on the first Sunday of each month which allows all visitors to enjoy the museum—many that might not ever visit otherwise. Sponsors are invited to attend their Sunday program to volunteer with family activities or to greet guests as they enter the museum. Although typical museum costs are reasonable, many people cannot afford regular museum visits. This program allows hundreds of visitors access to the cultural and natural history collections at the San Bernardino County Museum.
