About the Program

Category: County Administration and Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2010

Gwinnet County’s “Continuous Improvement Program” evaluates processes and identifies areas for improvement. The result is greater efficiency with a less labor-intensive process for their staff, better response time for citizens, and more value for County residents. After large budget reductions in 2009, it was imperative to maintain and improve their government services with fewer resources. The program utilizes Lean principles, a concept that attempts to increase efficiency and quality at every step of an operation while reducing waste, time, and cost. Using the Continuous Improvement Program in the Tax Assessor’s Office, they were able to create a new system for tax filings that cut filing time in half.
