About the Program

Category: Civic Education and Public Information (Best in Category)

Year: 2015

Leon County, Florida hosts a series of Community Legislative Dialogue Meetings each year to support the shared legislative objectives of stakeholders in our community. Before this annual program was implemented in 2011, the County found that although several community stakeholders shared common legislative goals, the community lacked a mechanism to work together to achieve them. In response, the County implemented an annual Community Legislative Dialogue program to discuss shared priorities, identify issues of significance to the community, and discuss ways to collaboratively achieve positive legislative outcomes. Leon County’s Community Legislative Dialogue Meetings provide an opportunity for governmental agencies and community organizations to share information and plan strategically for each year’s legislative session. Utilizing each organization’s resources, the County and its partners annually develop a list of legislative issues of shared significance to the community prior to the beginning of each session. The County and its community stakeholders share information and work together throughout the legislative session to achieve these shared objectives. Through this annual legislative program, Leon County and its partners have successfully collaborated to achieve several important shared objectives for our community.
