The Montgomery County, Maryland, Department of Technology Services (DTS) Employee Productivity Solutions (EPS) team (DTS-EPS) leveraged its investment in Microsoft Office365 technology to develop several SharePoint online applications to improve the productivity of the County Government’s Community Engagement Cluster (CEC). The CEC works to build stronger, more informed and inclusive communities and is responsible for strengthening the County’s commitment to civic engagement and community service by engaging residents, organizations, businesses and other interest groups in our communities. The CEC maximizes our communities’ assets – time, talents, and other resources – working collaboratively to address and resolve community issues. This project included development of the Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center Activity Tracking System, the Volunteer Center Collaborative Platform, and the Agency Student Service Learning (SSL) Tracking System. The Gilchrist Immigrant Resource Center Activity Tracking System replaces a paper process that tracks different service activities at the center. The Volunteer Center collaborative platform was developed mainly by non-IT staff and volunteers inside the CEC after they received basic training from the EPS team. It improves productivity using different libraries to keep track of awards, RSVPs, and technical information. The Agency SSL tracking system provides a collaboration platform among volunteers, the public school system and County Government.
