Category: Risk and Emergency Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2011

The CommandSim Training Project is an all-hazards emergency incident simulation training project. It encompasses an integrated program that the County’s Personnel management and Development Division utilizes to train, test, and evaluate its fire and EMS personnel in the responsibilities of command and control of emergency incidents, as well as the tactics and strategies employed at these same incidents. The project utilizes a mixture of computer technology, state-of-the-art Simulation Software and real-time inputs from hands-on instructors; placing students in a scenario situation as close as one can get to actually “being there.” Utilizing a dedicated simulation lab, county Intranet system and a dedicated IST server, in conjunction with technology built into its 21 Fire/Rescue Stations, the county is able to produce an interactive training scenario which can be attended by members over the entire organization, without them ever leaving their individual stations.
