Year: 2013

Leon County launched the Citizen Engagement Series (CES) in 2012 to align with its commitment to foster greater citizen participation. The Series speaks to the County's “People Focused, Performance Driven” culture by offering citizens the chance to gain greater understanding of County government operations. This Series engages citizens in County government's day-to-day responsibilities of balancing economic, environmental and quality of life goals for the community. Led by a cross-functional team, the CES program consists of six free bi-monthly interactive sessions that are open to all residents. Each session provides in-depth knowledge of the County’s decision-making processes and the processes in which programs and services are delivered to the community. These sessions are immersive, interactive, and collaborative as participants and staff work together to improve upon the program featured, and ultimately create a better Leon County. Citizens had the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the role, responsibilities, and challenges of County government and become more involved in shaping the community. Consistent with the County’s core practice of connecting with citizens, demonstrating the relevance of County government and offering opportunities for meaningful engagement, the CES program engages citizens as stakeholders in their County government like never before.
