After the tragedy and then heroic efforts of many due to the collapse of the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, FL, the public and Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER) were faced with numerous system related challenges and opportunities. A common concern was the lack of available and transparent information on building recertification. In collaboration with RER, the Information Technology Department (ITD) team elected to expand the already robust web application offering known as Gold Key in lieu of pursuing purchasing a software package. The resulting product, Building Recertification (BR), was accessible via the Gold Key portal. User-friendly application wizards were developed and customized to guide applicants through an interactive recertification process.
