The Boulder Area Trails mobile app spans 12 organizations, four counties, 327 trailheads, and 1,460 miles. These 12 organizations (Boulder County, City of Boulder, City of Longmont, City and County of Broomfield, Town of Erie, City of Lafayette, City of Louisville, Town of Superior, Town of Nederland, Town of Lyons, Rocky Mountain National Park, and the United States Forest Service) spent four years building a partnership to produce an app in which the partners have the ability to update the platform with closures and new trails, making this app the most up-to-date trail information available.With this single app, trail users can navigate trail connections and routes, and the app allows newcomers and visitors the same ability to explore a system of trails that often only seasoned residents know exist. Additionally, the system allows users to see real-time trail closures and provides information about alternate routes when detours are necessary.
