About the Program

Category: Children and Youth (Best in Category)

Year: 2015

In October 2014, San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) and Performance Education & Resource Centers (PERC) launched the Be A Hero campaign. Children were photographed alongside their heroes in hopes of inspiring others to become the ultimate heroes: adoptive parents. As a result, these community members were able to assist in finding adoptive homes for the children by creating awareness. Previously, creating awareness about the need for loving homes for county foster youth fell solely on CFS. This campaign brought awareness to the community and is indicative of the Countywide Vision that calls for collaboration amongst members of various public and private sectors to assist children from cradle to career. Through this campaign, firefighters, police officers, medical professionals and members of the San Bernardino Symphony helped to find loving homes for foster children.
