Alameda County Registrar of Voters is using a Ballot Marking device for in-person voting. This device presents the ballot in visual only, audio only and/or both formats for voters with accessibility and language requirements. The machines are loaded with text and audio files in different languages such as English, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog and Vietnamese. The new Ballot Text to Speech application helps the Registrar of Voters to generate these audio files by themselves for the ballot texts in different languages and provides an efficient way to review and validate the generated audio files before they are loaded to the Ballot Marking device.
