When someone calls 911 during a fire or medical emergency, they are not interested in the logo on the side of the fire truck. They simply want help to arrive as soon as possible. With that concept in mind, and in a continuing effort to strive for efficiencies and enhanced public safety countywide, Lake County Fire Rescue signed Interlocal Service Boundary Agreements, known as ISBAs, with nine municipalities since 2014. Included in the ISBAs with the cities of Clermont, Groveland, Mascotte, Leesburg, Minneola, and Tavares, are Automatic Aid Agreements, which state that the closest emergency unit responds to a 911 call, regardless of jurisdiction. These ISBAs with Automatic Aid bring together various public safety agencies to work cooperatively in eliminating duplication, streamlining dispatching and enhancing emergency response services in the county. The agreements have also saved taxpayer dollars while improving response times for citizens within the agreement boundaries.
