Category: Parks and Recreation (Best in Category)

Year: 2012

The County of Orange and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) entered into a partnership agreement in December 2009 for CSUF to manage, curate, and display a world-class archaeological and paleontological collection. This OC Parks Archaeological and Paleontological Partnership Program ensures that the County’s extensive collection of artifacts and fossils are properly stored, preserved, studied, and displayed. To sustain this program, volunteers from throughout Southern California have now worked at the center, providing thousands of hours of valuable support. Here, the staff has made numerous presentations to professional organizations throughout the region. The program provides CSUF and other students with an opportunity for hands-on experience, while broadening the public’s access to the collection. The program has been a great educational and historical success for the public with great reviews and high attendance.
