About the Program

Category: Libraries (Best in Category)

Year: 2020

The Northwest Regional Library is one of 18 branches in the Maricopa County Library District. The library’s All-Abilities Monthly Program is a dedicated, inclusive time for adults with disabilities and other special needs to come to the library and engage with library staff and other adults via hands-on activities. We offer a different activity every month which encourages critical thinking, problem solving, team work, and creativity. Themes include mini escape rooms, Nailed It/ Failed It crafts, a library scavenger hunt, life-sized games, a vision board, and musical painting. The goal is to welcome an underserved section of the local community into the library and offer them engaging programming with their special needs in mind. Participants are both regular library users and adults from nearby day programs who come to the library with their group.
