The Library Lounge is a 15-foot by 10-foot space located in a corner of the main terminal at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority which acts as a welcome haven for travelers waiting for their luggage at the baggage claim. Airport visitors can charge their electronic devices and download eBooks while their children enjoy age-appropriate materials in the library space. The charging stations have two flat-screen displays which inform the public about nearby events, library locations, and the Maricopa County Library District’s free Wi-Fi. A take-a-book/leave-a-book feature provides an option for sharing and replenishing reading materials. The Library Lounge concept was conceived during a conversation initiated in 2013 by Antonio Apodaca, Adult Services Manager for the Maricopa County Library District and Tiffany Johnson, Specialist: Business Development, Marketing and Advertising for the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Authority.
