The Computer Aided Dispatch Administrator for the York, Poquoson, Williamsburg Emergency Communications Center has designed their mapping programs with the ability to alert 911 dispatchers to the locations of Automated External Defibrillators throughout York County, the City of Poquoson, and the City of Williamsburg. Automated External Defibrillators have been placed in strategic locations, public buildings, and parks throughout these jurisdictions. This life-saving technology has given citizens and visitors of these localities the opportunity to initiate immediate medical assistance while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. With the 9-1-1 dispatcher directing the callers to the location of the AED, someone in cardiac arrest can receive immediate medical assistance. The result is saving precious time while emergency medical personnel are responding. The activation of the 9-1-1 emergency response system begins with a phone call. In conjunction with pre-arrival instructions given by the 9-1-1 dispatcher, immediate intervention to potential life saving measures can be set in motion by locating the closest AED. Recipient
