About the Program

Category: Civic Education and Public Information (Best in Category)

Year: 2015

Hamilton County had become much more aggressive in 2014 about promoting its children available for adoption. The agency’s director, Moira Weir, wanted to cap the year off with a calendar of kids who were waiting for forever families. She wanted the kids’ faces to hang on cubicle walls all over the region. The agency identified children who had been waiting longer for adoptive homes and collected bold, bright photographs of each child. Two were featured each month, with more on the front and back of the calendar. The agency printed 1,500 calendars and envelopes with the agency’s new adoption/foster care logo for just over $5,700. The calendars were very well received by the public. About 500 were mailed to decision makers and stakeholders as well as foster and adoptive parents, as the agency knows they are the best recruiters. They were distributed to all the agency’s partner networks, all foster care and adoption agencies in the region and were passed out at many adoption recruitment events.
