The Lake County Michigan CDBG Home Emergency Repair Program was started in its present configuration in August 2011 by the Lake County Board of Commissioners with assistance from the lake County Housing Committee. The program was designed as a means of proacively addressing the emergency home repair needs of a low to moderate, long-standing encampment of rural home owners in Lake County, Michigan. The Lake County Michigan Home Emergency Repair Program works in cooperation with the Dept. of Human Services, the Lake osceola State Bank and Five Cap, a non-profit, social service agency. The outcome and rendered success of the project involves: addressing the challenges faced by low to moderate, rural, older adult home owners in Lake County, Michigan in need of upgrading their homes that are sub-standard so that the homes meet minimum codes and property standards. The confluence of resources, opportunity and quick cooperation have allowed for the homes to once again be sustainable.
