Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department created eight 3-D models of the various kinds of septic systems from toilet to drain field. The Health Department created interactive models of healthy and unhealthy septic systems. Anyone can open them for free on their computer, tablet, or smart phone. Septic system contractors can also use them on their websites or in meetings with clients in the field. 3-D septic system models: 1. Increase the public’s awareness and knowledge of on-site septic systems 2. Increase public engagement with Health Department staff at community events 3. Provide useful tools to local businesses “If a picture is worth a thousand words, then these 3-D model are priceless. In 15 minutes I can show someone how their system really works. It's given users the ability to see what’s underground that they could never see before! As a teaching tool, they will change the way we help others understand how their system works and why it's important to take care of them.” Jeremiah Gunia, A Advanced Services. Any County can use these models for free, with a credit to Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. No special equipment or software is required. We have a creative commons license for the technology.
