“Cápsula Informativa del Condado de Montgomery” Newscasts is an innovative and effective tool implemented by Montgomery County’s Office of Public Information to inform the fast growing Hispanic community in the County. “Cápsula Informativa del Condado de Montgomery” is Montgomery County’s weekly/fifteen minute Spanish language television news and information show which is shown on a rotating schedule on County Cable Montgomery. The show format includes interviews, news, and PSAs. County government departments, County Council, and other County agencies collaborate to bring news and information to the Hispanic community. Since its launch in January, 2013, the television show has addressed issues regarding education, health care, transportation, public safety, economic development, employment, senior services, recycling, consumer protection, pedestrian safety, community engagement, recent legislation, stellar community service programs, volunteering and opportunities for recreation. The show has served the Hispanic community in opening the doors of opportunity for families to engage in civic participation, have more access to County programs and services, to be prepared for weather related emergencies and to be informed about law and legislation. “Cápsula Informativa del Condado de Montgomery” helps raise awareness among Spanish speaking Montgomery County residents of recent activity within the County. Episodes often feature contributions from Montgomery College, Rockville 11, MyMCMedia, Montgomery County Department of Transportation, the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Department Montgomery County Police Department and Montgomery County Public Schools. The newscast airs on County Cable Montgomery (CCM) is the local cable station for Montgomery County, MD government news, public affairs programming, live Council sessions and County Executive press conferences. Comcast and RCN customers can watch “Cápsula Informativa del Condado de Montgomery” Newscasts on channel 6 and Verizon customers can find us on channel 30.
