WASHINGTON – The National Association of Counties (NACo) today announced that Eryn Hurley has been named Chief Government Affairs Officer. Hurley brings over a decade of experience advancing federal policy priorities on behalf of county governments, working in a bipartisan manner to represent county interests and build effective relationships on Capitol Hill and across federal agencies.
“Eryn is a tireless advocate for local government who has earned the trust of NACo’s members when it comes to every issue important to counties in the federal landscape,” said NACo Executive Director Matthew Chase. “With her leading this team, counties will continue to grow our strong presence as intergovernmental partners here in Washington.”
Previously NACo’s managing director of government affairs, Hurley led the association’s efforts to support counties through the implementation of the historic American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which included $65.1 billion in direct to county funding for COVID recovery. Hurley also pioneered NACo’s Federal Fellowship Program, an initiative strengthening the intergovernmental partnership by exposing emerging federal leaders to the role of county governments.
“I’m honored to take on this new role as Chief Government Affairs Officer,” said Hurley. “Counties are trusted intergovernmental partners, and I look forward to championing the county perspective on national policy and ensuring local governments are positioned to help our residents thrive.”
