World AIDS Day and Ending the HIV Epidemic

World AIDS Day is Sunday, December 1, 2019. According to the CDC, an estimated 1.1 million people in the United States have HIV, and of those people, about 1 in 7 do not know they have it. These data make clear that not all people are benefitting from the proven HIV prevention and treatment tools currently available. Specifically, certain populations and geographic areas continue to bear a disproportionate burden of HIV disease. On Wednesday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. ET/11:00 a.m. PT, NACo will host a webinar with Dr. Eugene McCray, director of DHAP, will share the latest on the national Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative, and a county involved in EHE efforts will discuss their work to date. CDC will share resources from Let’s Stop HIV Together that counties can use in World AIDS Day and other HIV awareness efforts. This year’s World AIDS Day theme is Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Community by Community. This session will include discussion and an opportunity for questions.
