Arts & Culture Innovation Council
About the Council
Counties invest in the arts for many reasons, including to improve their economies, beautify communities, enrich American cultural and intellectual life, protect cultural heritage and historic preservation and promote lifelong learning. NACo's Arts and Culture Innovation Council elevates national trends and county innovations on how the arts can be used by county officials to promote economic development and provide solutions to many of the challenges their residents face; in addition, the Council advises NACo on the organization’s arts and culture programming.
NACo's Arts and Culture Innovation Council typically hosts in-person educational content and peer networking activities at NACo Annual and Legislative conferences to amplify these solutions among conference participants. Additional virtual and in-person programming is guided by the Council’s appointed leadership in partnership with NACo’s Arts and Culture sponsors and thought partners. Council members receive targeted invitations to in-person and virtual events, educational content and more.

The Creative Counties Placemaking Initiative, developed with Americans for the Arts and supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, provides county leaders with tools to integrate the arts into local solutions.
