Since 2008, Macomb County’s Veterans Office had been using the Veterans’ Information Management system (VIMS) system to process and track veterans’ claims. In December 2013 Macomb County decided to convert to the VetraSpec system, which allows the State of Michigan real time access to the County’s veterans’ data for statistical analysis and reporting. Also, this system allows Macomb County to have access to a Macomb County veteran’s information that is kept by another County (with that County’s approval).
