The mission of the Veterans and Loved Ones Recovery (VALOR) program is to provide mental health services to veterans and their families, in a supportive environment, regardless of formal Veterans’ Administration (VA) eligibility status and military discharge. The VALOR program aims to serve as a national model of community involvement and strives to achieve the Department of Mental Health’s (DMH) goals of hope, wellness, and recovery for veterans in Los Angeles County. Team members assist veterans in establishing a personal mission and identity, developing a meaningful connection and sense of camaraderie with other veterans, and obtaining a knowledge base of resources and systems available to them.
