Year: 2017

The Successful Offender Adjustment and Reentry (SOAR) program at the Merrimack County Department of Corrections was born of the need to reduce recidivism in the most cost effective way possible to tax payers. It has been the County’s intent to reduce recidivism through a systems approach, utilizing various organizations throughout our County to provide continuity of services to those inmates who, after screening and assessment, present a need. Specifically, Merrimack County is working to reduce recidivism by preparing inmates to make a successful transition back to the community. We are doing this by providing intensive, evidence based programming to high risk offenders and prior to release linking these offenders to services. Once in the community we continue to supervise the client and we collaborate with community based providers to ensure that those in the community are maintaining sobriety and working toward becoming a viable member of the community.
