Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department (ITD) provides a broad array of IT services as the largest municipal technology provider for County departments, agencies and municipal partners. ITD serves as a partner in innovation for its customers developing solutions moving towards the digital transformation of government. The Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) provides waste removal services for more than 340,000 residential and commercial accounts. Residential garbage accounts are issued one green waste cart that the citizen utilizes to store their daily household waste. Citizens choose between three different sizes of green garbage carts (35, 65 or 95 gallon). If one green waste cart is not enough for the household, residents can lease additional green garbage carts at the annual cost of $79.50 each. Twice weekly, residential garbage waste cart(s) are picked up by DSWM’s Garbage division. DSWM’s Garbage division has 7 Waste Carts crews that are responsible for delivering, repairing and/or replacing all of the residential green waste carts throughout Miami-Dade County. Citizens call 311 to report their green cart related problems such as broken wheels, damaged lids, stolen carts and etc,. The DSWM Waste Cart crew process over 35,000 311HUB citizen green waste carts service requests calls each year.
