Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office completes a quarterly inspection of all weapons and vehicles in the fleet. This inspection was originally completed by hand, using paper and pencil, and then compiled into a spreadsheet for future reference. Cabarrus County’s Information Technology Services department utilized a new JavaScript framework to produce an interactive chatbot that guides the inspecting officer through the entire inspection process. The data obtained through the chatbot is stored in a database and used for thorough reporting via Microsoft PowerBI. The new chatbot process and reporting dashboards have greatly improved the accuracy of the inspection process and the time it takes to complete these quarterly inspections. This went into use during FY2020.
