In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Suffolk County operates a curb to curb paratransit service for persons with disabilities who cannot independently use regular bus line service due to the extent and nature of their disability. SCAT is a reservation public bus service. In 2008, the service offering was expanded to include Origin to Destination service for those riders with additional special needs to complete their trips. The Origin to destination service is an enhancement that goes beyond the basic requirements of the ADA to provide curb to curb service by assisting riders in navigating along accessible paths between the service vehicle and the entrance of their trip origin/destination.
