About the Program

Category: County Administration and Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2010

Orange County’s Office of the Performance Audit director independently and objectively assesses the performance of County government operations and programs. Through its audit findings and recommendations, the program: provides policymakers with analysis and information to make sound business decisions, recommends specific actions that will result in the provision of outstanding, cost-effective public services, and ensures transparency and accountability. The performance audits are designed to be of practical value to County agencies and departments in improving their operations, identifying both positive operating practices and opportunities for improvement. Audit reports are presented formally to the County Board of Supervisors on the public agenda, and as such, the reports’ content receives a higher level of public scrutiny and media attention.
