About the Program

Category: Information Technology (Best in Category)

Year: 2011

The Orange County Registrar of Voters developed the Poll Worker PASS to improve the administration and enhance the cost effectiveness of conducting elections. Another goal of the program is to enhance the level of citizen participation in a government program by streamlining the volunteer communications. A dedicated website was created and every election volunteer is provided a personal account. Through their account the volunteers receive real time updates, training statuses, names of fellow volunteers, supply distribution details, and their poll site location – including maps. Integration of Poll Worker PASS into the office’s volunteer communication has allowed the department to engage volunteers in a revolutionary way. By providing the volunteer instant access to their information with the click of a mouse, the county was able to make the volunteer experience a more enjoyable one. In addition to enhancing communication with volunteers, Poll Worker PASS has significantly improved departmental efficiencies.
