Westchester County’s top priority is keeping its residents safe, and, to that end, the Older Driver Roll Call Training for Law Enforcement was created. Developed by the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services staff and the department’s Older Driver Family Assistance Network, this training teaches police officers how to recognize the at-risk older driver, how to interact with the driver at a traffic stop, and what resources are available that they can refer the older driver to for help. A laminate “cue card” is provided for every officer to keep in their ticket books as a quick reference on how to identify the at-risk older driver, procedures for documenting the encounter, and local resources to help the driver and their families.
