MyGreenMontgomery is a guide to living a green life in Montgomery County, Maryland. This “one-stop-shop” website includes environmentally sustainable programs, information and resources from Montgomery County, the State of Maryland, and the Federal government, as well as nonprofit and community organizations, utilities, and other entities to make “going green” easy. Residents can find Green Project ideas to save energy and water, decrease waste, and develop low-impact lawns and gardens. These projects can be saved in a personal Green Plan so residents keep track of actions they want to do. Once an action is complete a resident receives “green points”, which gauge one’s decreased impact on our environment. MyGreenMontgomery is also a community resource. Local Groups focusing on environmental issues, green contractors and service providers are linked to throughout the site. MyGreenMontgomery integrates social media and encourages residents to share their stories, leave a comment or provide feedback, and suggest ideas for additional resources or topics. MyGreenMontgomery is unique website that sheds light on a ubiquitous, but not top-of-mind topic - sustainability. It is the goal of this website to link residents to programs and information that, when used, make Montgomery County a more sustainable community and help to protect our environment for future generations.
