Montgomery County Recreation in its continued work to improve emergency planning developed a written emergency communication plan defining how the department will respond and communicate with stakeholders in emergency situations. This plan outlines established procedures for emergency communications, identifies when the crisis communication response will be implemented, identifies the methods to be used in implementing the communication plan, and defines the roles and responsibilities of staff during a crisis situation. This written plan demonstrates the department’s commitment to being well-prepared for situations requiring immediate attention and outlines the process for communicating with all stakeholders, including employees, county officials, the media and the public during an emergency. The Montgomery County Recreation Department and Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security worked together to develop an exercise to test the effectiveness of the Recreation Department’s Emergency Communication Plan in response to an all Hazard event.
