The Orange County Probation Department and the Orange County Department of Education, in concert with a coalition of nonprofit groups, launched the “Mission Possible” Program in 2006. Girls need to feel empowered about their minds, bodies, and spirits to build confidence and inner strength. The girls in custody at Orange County Juvenile Hall, like every other girl, should have this same opportunity. The Mission Possible Program was created for this purpose. Orange County Juvenile Hall houses the Mission Possible Program in Unit Q, a 60-bed female detention unit housing girls currently serving a juvenile commitment in Orange County. The primary goal of the program is to provide gender based programming and transitional services to females detained at Orange County Juvenile Hall. These programs and services assist these girls in their own growth and development and promote the successful transition of incarcerated girls back into their communities.
