The MS Tag provides an interactive experience for Smartphone users. The OTC implemented the use of MS Tags as a way to direct taxpayers to its online payment system with minimal need to navigate the entire county’s website and the payment service website. The MS Tag has been added to all tax bills and notices, and other printed information. MS Tag instantly puts the relevant information at your fingertips. The implementation of the MS Tag on Mecklenburg County tax bills began July 2012. This new service caters to our tech savvy taxpayers who wish to use their Smartphone to view their tax bills as well as to pay their tax bills with less hassle and no interactions with our office. This service enhances the level of taxpayer participation in paying their tax bill on time and with ease. Many of our taxpayers are mobile and a large portion of our tax payments are made via the online system.Total cost to implement the MS Tag was zero dollars. MS Tags are free to use for any tech savvy organization. Since implementing the MS Tags, 2,323 payments were made totaling, $416,709.25 collected. MS Tag payments have increased 46% from July through December 2012. Payments continue to come in as the OTC finds more ways to include the MS Tag on their documents and forms.
