Hamilton County’s annual Adoption Day in November of each year is a great showcase of the joys of adoption. The agency has promoted the event each year in hopes of getting more people to explore adoption through its website, HCKids.org. Traditionally, it has provided a small bump in web traffic but no long-term benefits. The agency decided to focus on a quality live video stream of the event to drive excitement and traffic. The goal of the livestream effort was to provide a way for family and friends of the adopting families to witness the big day, build excitement about the adoption process and, ultimately, drive traffic to HCKids.org, which features children available for adoption. The video was engaging with high-quality live editing and multiple cameras views. The focus was on smiling children and happy parents. An archived version was also placed on our website (https://www.hckids.org/adoptionday/). The county promoted the event with local media and agencies. It was a great success. HCKids.org saw an immediate increase in traffic that has been sustained to this day. The day of the event, more than 200 people viewed the live stream. There were nearly 1,000 visits to HCKids.org that day, compared to less than 200 on an average day. Monthly average sessions increased by 65 percent after the event. Monthly average users increased by 92 percent.
