About the Program

Category: Financial Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2020

In 2016, Leon County created the Livable Infrastructure for Everyone (LIFE) program, which allocates 2% of the County’s Local Government Infrastructure Surtax revenue beginning in 2020 to address core infrastructure deficiencies in rural areas. Recognizing that no one in Leon County should be without basic infrastructure in the 21st Century, the LIFE Program is designed to support improvements in areas that have basic infrastructure needs. The 2% dedication of the annual tax proceeds, an estimated total of $15.1 million, will fund small-scale infrastructure improvements, such as unforeseen infrastructure needs resulting from population growth and aging infrastructure, within Leon County and the City of Tallahassee.
