As a means to improve case management in Juvenile Court, the Superior Court’s Statistics Unit created three reports that improve justice for children and families and save tax payer money by resolving juvenile petitions more efficiently. In fiscal year 2009, Juvenile Court increased the number of petitions it closed from 18,592 to 20,920, a 12.5 percent increase from the previous fiscal year. The first report, “Juvenile Pending Case Summary” helps Juvenile Court judicial officers identify the type of petitions on their calendar. The “Age of Active Pending Dependency Juveniles” report and the “Age of Active Pending Delinquency Petitions” report provide listings of petitions assigned to the judicial officers by case days. All three of these reports act as tools that help judicial officers manage their caseload.
